The companies of Schwarz Group have stepped up their commitment to a sustainable circular economy by re-signing the Ellen MacArthur Foundation's Global Commitment at the end of October. In doing so, they reaffirm their continuing commitment to the partnership, which has been in place since 2018, until 2030 and underscored their pledge to further promote resource sovereignty by advancing a systematic circular economy.
Global Commitment is a Milestone for REset Resources
As a signatory of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation's Global Commitment 2030, the companies of Schwarz Group have pledged to use less virgin plastic. The specific aim is to reduce virgin plastic in the plastic primary packaging of their private-label products by 5% by 2030 compared to 2018 levels. At the same time, the companies of Schwarz Group are pursuing an even more far-reaching target in this action area: 15% less virgin material in single-use packaging for our private labels by 2030. The Global Commitment therefore represents a specific key focus on plastics within these wider efforts to conserve resources.
"A functioning circular economy is a strategic necessity for the companies of Schwarz Group and the key to global resource sovereignty," said Florian Schütze, Member of the Executive Board, Corporate Responsibility at Schwarz Corporate Affairs. "Thanks to our successes in the Global Commitment 2025 and our new, holistic circular economy strategy 'REset Resources', we are securing valuable resources for the long term and systematically keeping them in the loop. The Ellen MacArthur Foundation's '2030 Plastics Agenda for Business' provides the clarity and resolve needed to join forces globally and to continue driving comprehensive change with credibility and ambition."
