ThisCapTM is a ‘hold-open tethered closure’ developed by ThisCap Inc., now a part of SACMI Group, to meet the requirements of the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD), which makes tethered caps mandatory on all single-use beverage bottles up to three litres. Beyond compliance, this closure has been engineered for an intuitive, comfortable consumer experience, as it remains firmly attached to the bottle, opens smoothly, and recloses securely.

Meeting evolving market needs
The introduction of ThisCapTM reflects RETAL’s ongoing commitment to providing its customers with flexible and sustainable solutions as beverage packaging transitions to next-generation neck finishes and lighter weights.
In close collaboration with SACMI and its team of technical specialists, RETAL has launched production of ThisCapTM Hold-Open (TCHO) closures on its advanced compression-moulding lines, using post-processing slitting technology for the 1.3 g water cap format. The design’s robust hinge and practical geometry make it easy to handle on standard capping equipment, while ensuring the cap stays conveniently out of the way when opened.
