At the ground-breaking ceremony on 28 August 2026, the RCS Group will officially begin construction work on Capeller Straße. A new 6.5-hectare extension site is currently being developed for RCS Plastics GmbH. The company is investing 75 million euros in this project, which will see it expand its expertise in plastics recycling and lay the foundations for additional closed-loop recycling systems.
The RCS Group invited representatives from the worlds of politics, the civil service and business, as well as the entire workforce. Together, they celebrated the official start of construction work on the expansion site to the north of the RCS headquarters. Guests included District Administrator Mario Löhr, Mayor Lars Hübchen, Business Development Officer Matthias Stiller, Wulf-Christian Ehrich from the Dortmund Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Ralf Bülte (Head of Planning for the City of Werne) and representatives from construction partner Goldbeck.
A standalone site for further growth
The new building will establish a standalone site for RCS Plastics GmbH, incorporating production, logistics, administrative, maintenance and service areas. The plan is to process HDPE cap closures, PS and PET trays and beverage bottles into high-quality recyclates for a wide range of applications.
Around 100,000 tonnes of plastic material are set to be recycled at the new site each year in future. Particular emphasis is being placed on producing high-quality recycled materials suitable for food packaging.

Pioneers in food-grade HDPE recycling
The new site's key focus is developing and producing food-grade recycled material from HDPE caps. The necessary approvals for this are considered challenging across the industry, requiring advanced technology, robust quality assurance and thorough documentation.
Through this project, the RCS Group intends to become a pioneer in this field and set new standards for the circular economy.
