At the Pack Expo, Krones AG, Neutraubling, Germany, is exhibiting a Variopac Pro TFS 70, which copes effortlessly with this new type of packaging for non-returnables. The Variopac Pro is synonymous with advances in functional dependability, machine availability, operator-friendliness and extended useful lifetime. Well over a thousand of these machines are already up and running successfully all over the world. In high-speed lines, particularly, the Variopac Pro performs with elegant efficiency. Empirical feedback from uninterrupted operation with a continuous flow of material has led to numerous design enhancements and optimized features in the machinery concept, so that now the Variopac Pro constitutes an exceptionally reliable end-of-the-line packer. And a highly versatile one too: as demonstrated once again by its nested packs capability.Sounds simple, but produces a whole lot of advantages. The nested arrangement created in the Krones Variopac Pro produces packs of enhanced stability.   Nested Packs may be the packaging option of the future. What exactly does this term denote? In the non-returnables packer, the containers are no longer packed in a linear configuration, but are each offset by half a bottle diameter to create the transport packs. For example, four bottles in a row can be offset by half a bottle diameter from the next row, or the formation can be composed of alternate three- and four-bottle rows. This sounds simple, but produces a whole lot of advantages. The packs created by this nesting arrangement are more stable: they do not necessarily need a pad or a tray, or thinner film can be used. The space requirement on the pallet is up to 15 percent smaller, depending on the particular formation involved. The layer pattern on the pallet, too, exhibits enhanced stability, which is why the amount of pallet wrapping can be reduced. Nested Packs are visually appealing into the bargain.
