K 2025: TOMRA presents a holistic approach to full plastics circularity

2:80 min K-Show 2025Sorting and collection
Asker, Norway

For the first time, TOMRA presents holistic solutions for reducing, reusing and recycling plastics at the world’s number-one trade fair for plastics and rubbers, in Düsseldorf.

“Over the past 50 years, TOMRA has been a provider of solutions for increasing plastics circularity. At K 2025, the world’s leading trade fair for plastics and rubbers, we have decided to present our wide range of solutions and insights together, to showcase the opportunities available for customers and partners looking to reduce, reuse and recycle plastics in a holistic manner. We welcome everyone to visit our stand to learn more,” says Tove Andersen, President and CEO of TOMRA.

The following will be presented at K 2025:

Recycling: Driving plastics circularity

TOMRA’s Recycling division will spotlight cutting-edge sorting technologies that accelerate plastic circularity. From the versatile AUTOSORT™ paired with GAINnext™ AI for complex material recognition, to INNOSORT™ FLAKE and AUTOSORT™ FLAKE for high-quality flake sorting, TOMRA empowers recyclers to meet rising quality and regulatory demands.

Supporting these solutions are TOMRA Insight’s cloud-based monitoring portal and PolyPerception’s AI-driven material analysis, bringing transparency and efficiency to sorting operations.

Katrin Fricke, TOMRA Recycling’s new EVP and Head: “At K 2025, we’ll demonstrate that sorting is no longer just about recovering and upgrading plastics—it’s about achieving the highest level of material granularity while increasing transparency and digitization in sorting facilities. Our deep learning solutions, cloud-based monitoring, and smart waste analysis are key to making this possible and advancing full plastics circularity.”

Collection: Powering the collection of drink containers for recycling:

TOMRA Collection will showcase its industry-leading reverse vending technology for collecting drink containers for recycling, which powers many of today’s deposit return schemes to incentivize container returns.

Previewing at K Show is the flagship TOMRA R1 and T9 with MultiPac Air system, featuring the TOMRA T9 reverse vending machine, multi-feed TOMRA R1 (where users pour in 100+ containers at once rather inserting them one by one), and MultiPac Air backroom storage solution. Together, they efficiently handle high volumes and different materials of drink containers, with high system speed and greater storage capacity - driving optimal convenience for the recycler and efficient handling for the operator.

TOMRA Horizon: Innovation in new business areas and with new models

TOMRA is also represented by its corporate ventures TOMRA Feedstock and TOMRA Reuse, set up to explore ways the company’s technology and solutions can be applied in new ways to enable circular economies and resource efficiency.

TOMRA Feedstock focuses on closing the loop for plastics and will in early November be opening Områ, Norway’s national sorting facility for plastic packaging with a capacity to sort plastics recovered from mixed waste streams into ten mono-fractions suitable for high-grade recycling.

TOMRA Reuse has been piloting a system for reusable takeaway packaging on city level in Aarhus since January 2024 and will be launching a similar solution in Lisbon’s historic center this year. The team is also piloting solutions for large-scale venues and events, and earlier this year launched a reuse collection point that can handle cups, boxes and bowls.

“TOMRA Horizon is our platform for focused innovation. Reuse and Feedstock are promising ventures where we see significant potential both from an environmental impact perspective, and from a commercial perspective. In parallel, we are continuously considering targeted investments to strengthen our ability to lead the resource revolution,” said Lars Enge, EVP Strategy and Head of TOMRA Horizon.
