Closing the Loop, Capturing Value: Otto Systems‘ Plastic Recovery Fund
Reto Bamert, Head of Global Sales
Aditya Siroya, Co-founder and Chief Impact Officer

Reducing the PET footprint in today’s industry is primarily achieved through weight reduction and the use of rPET. Otto Systems actively supports both approaches but takes a significant additional step. Through the Otto Systems Plastic Recovery Fund, the company not only decreases the use of virgin PET but also addresses the problem of improperly discarded PET packaging.
The fund helps establish a structured collection and recycling system in Kerala, India. This initiative creates fair-wage jobs, strengthens local waste management, and enhances socio-economic conditions for waste workers. Additionally, it promotes education on ethical waste separation and management, ensuring that PET packaging is seen as a valuable resource rather than an environmental burden.
