The world’s biggest plastic fair has come to an end – INTRAVIS once again proved that it is an innovative market leader in the supply of vision inspection systems to the plastic packaging industry. INTRAVIS displayed the new version of the PreWatcher® III at their booth. The preform inspection system, which can be used inline as well as offline, attracted a lot of attention with its numerous upgrades.

Many co-exhibiting booths showcased other INTRAVIS vision inspection systems, including newly developed technologies.

The LayerWatcher® shown in the Husky Injection Molding Systems S.A. booth was surely the highlight. This preform inspection system, with its new developed scan technology, offers the opportunity for the first time to inspect preform layers for presence, position and thickness in a detailed and comprehensive way and above all: non-destructively.

The IntraVisualizer also had its successful premiere at a K Show: This analysis software, developed entirely in-house, converts all measurement results of INTRAVIS systems into simple and easy-to-read graphs. It is also capable of creating trend statistics to assist minimizing reject rates, ultimately preventing scrap and increasing productivity. “We’ve made big steps towards the Industrialized Internet of Things (IIoT),” Gerd Fuhrmann, Managing director of INTRAVIS, explains. “No matter how well adjusted the production parameters are, you still have to take a close look at the quality of the finished product. This is what the cameras and software of our inspection systems provide. The targeted and accumulated feedback of the IntraVisualizer significantly refines process control capabilities.  This is why INTRAVIS vision inspection systems are the eyes of the IIoT.

Another system that gained public interest was the CapWatcher® SC (Specialty Closures) located in the Arburg GmbH & Co. KG booth. This closure inspection system is designed to perform outer inspection of specialty closures. It inspects for criteria such as contamination, assembly defects and defective components.

At the booth of BMB S.p.A., the show attendees observed an IntraWatcher for the inspection of In-Mold-Label (IML) decorated cups. This IML inspection system, showcased in cooperation with Polymac Robotics b.v., is distinguished by its integration into Polymac’s robotic takeaway system. Furthermore it supports even faster cycle times than what was possible in the past.

SpotWatcher® Integrated was showcased at the Kautex Maschinenbau GmbH booth. This system inspected the full exterior of extrusion blow molded containers for material and production defects. Kautex integrated the inspection into their new modular downstream system incorporating bottle cooling plus leak, weight and vision inspections.

“The eight days of the K show went by fast,” says Gerd Fuhrmann. ”We are very happy to have had many visitors especially from Asia and North America. As a positive result, systems were purchased right at our booth – this is a tremendous credit to our customers’ trust in the INTRAVIS expertise.”
