Husky appoints Dinesh Budapanahalli to lead growing hot runner business

Husky Injection Molding Systems today announced a series of investments that have extended its global leadership position in hot runners. As the largest manufacturer of hot runner systems and temperature controllers worldwide, Husky has achieved a compound annual growth rate of more than 15% in this market over the last five years.“Our hot runner customers have an increasingly global focus within their businesses. Investing in our global infrastructure will help us to satisfy this need by delivering improved responsiveness and faster lead times,” said John Galt, Husky’s President and CEO. “Our ultimate goal is to better meet the needs of customers by delivering global solutions that can be effectively executed at the local level.”To strengthen customer relationships, Husky recently appointed Dinesh Budapanahalli to the position of Vice President, Service and Sales, Global Hot Runners and Tooling. Mr. Budapanahalli will be responsible for growing Husky’s worldwide hot runner and tooling business. Since joining Husky in 1992, Mr. Budapanahalli has served in a number of positions within its operations and service and sales organizations in North America and Asia. Most recently, he held the position of General Manager, Tooling Operations, Asia.Husky has also made a number of investments in its local manufacturing network, having recently expanded its technical center in Yokohama, Japan with hot runner manufacturing capabilities. It is expanding its technical center in Shanghai, China for the third time since opening in 2006 and will be increasing its hot runner manufacturing capacity at its technical center in São Paolo, Brazil. With primary hot runner manufacturing facilities in Vermont, Luxembourg, Shenzhen and Singapore, Husky plans to open a new facility in Chennai, India, to support the needs of customers in this emerging market.Husky is also continuing to invest in research and development, maintaining a diversified hot runner portfolio for a range of markets. Products introduced in 2008 include: Electric synchronized valve stem actuated hot runner – ideal for markets, such as medical, which require a greater degree of stem control and cavity-to-cavity consistency. Ultra 350 valve gate nozzle – the smallest member of Husky’s valve gate nozzle family, designed for ultra-compact, multi-cavity production of small medical, closures or technical parts.Complementing Husky’s hot runner product line is its range of Altanium temperature controllers, recently integrated with worldwide hot runner manufacturing operations located in Vermont, Luxembourg and Shenzhen. The introduction of Altanium, recognized throughout the industry for its accuracy, ease-of-use and flexibility, marked Husky as the only hot runner manufacturer with its own integrated line of temperature controllers.
