CP Group (CPG), a designer, manufacturer, and integrator of advanced material recovery facilities (MRFs) and automated sorting technologies, announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Recycleye. This strategic move significantly expands CPG’s AI-driven sorting capabilities, allowing MRF operators greater ability to increase recovery, improve purity, and maximize profitability.

Recycleye, headquartered in London, specializes in high‑accuracy AI vision systems used across robotic and belt‑based sorting applications. Integrating Recycleye’s technology with CPG’s portfolio unlocks powerful technical synergies that streamline product alignment, accelerate innovation, and further establish CP Group as the global leader in next‑generation MRF systems.

“This acquisition brings together the industry’s leading MRF integrator with Europe’s most established AI‑based sorting company,” said Terry Schneider, CEO of CP Group. “Together, we are advancing AI‑enabled sorting and plant control across the entire MRF—from maximizing material purity to reducing operating costs. Customers can expect meaningful new capabilities in the months ahead as we combine our engineering teams and accelerate product development.”

Delivering measurable value for MRF operators

The combined platform directly addresses the biggest challenges faced by MRF operators, including labor shortages, throughput constraints, and tightening material specifications. With CPG and Recycleye technologies now aligned under one organization, operators gain:

Higher material purity through best‑in‑class AI optical and robotic sorting
Lower labor dependency by reducing the number of manual sorting positions
Increased recovery, especially through last‑chance sorting applications
Real‑time material composition data for more informed operational decision‑making
Improved system uptime and profitability through integrated plant‑level intelligence
Expanded 24/7 Global Support and Strengthened Tail‑End Sorting

With Recycleye’s UK-based engineering team joining CPG, customers benefit from expanded technical support across more time zones. The acquisition also reinforces CPG’s industry‑leading last‑chance AI sorting capabilities, ensuring higher recovery rates and measurable improvements in end‑to‑end plant purity.

Building on a successful partnership

CP Group began collaborating with Recycleye in 2023 through MSS, its optical sorting division, to develop and deploy the Vivid-AI optical sorter, the industry’s first AI system paired with air‑ejection, enabling faster, more accurate sorting than mechanical-arm‑based AI systems.

Continued investment in engineering, R&D, and product alignment will further enhance CPG’s ability to deliver value, stay ahead of industry trends, and maintain its long-standing reputation for system reliability and performance.

Victor Dewulf, CEO of Recycleye said, “This acquisition creates significant opportunity for both companies and our customers. By combining near infrared technology with advanced AI, we can deliver higher quality sorting solutions to the market. CP Group’s industry expertise will accelerate our growth and understanding, supported by Recycleye’s 45 person team, including engineers from Cambridge University and Imperial College London, who have been central to developing our AI Technology.”

Accelerating the next generation of AI sorting and analysis

Combined development efforts will target hybrid AI + NIR sorting platforms that leverage the strengths of both organizations. With Recycleye’s broad European installation base, CP Group now operates the largest deployed fleet of AI‑only optical sorters in Europe, strengthening its position as the technology leader in AI-driven material recovery and waste-stream intelligence.

Recycleye’s entire team and leadership will remain in place, continuing to serve customers internationally. CPG, MSS, and Recycleye will collaborate to expand sales across the U.S. and Europe, while maintaining independent divisional operations to support each regional market.
