Competek launches universal mould for multiple blow moulding platforms

Competek has introduced Flex Mould, a universal blow mould designed to help manufacturers simplify mould management across mixed blow moulding environments.

Compatible with most leading blow moulding machines, Flex Mould uses a dedicated interface system that allows the same mould to be transferred between compatible platforms, reducing the need for machine-specific tooling.

The solution builds on Competek’s more than 25 years of experience in PET packaging, including custom mould development for different lines and brands, as well as mechanical and laboratory testing to support feasibility and performance.

This technology comes as PET packaging producers face growing pressure to manage more product variants, shorter production runs and more frequent changeovers. Industry reports point to SKU proliferation, lightweighting, recycled-content requirements and cost pressure as forces reshaping packaging operations, placing greater value on adaptable production assets.

Flex Mould also supports faster format changeovers through a tool-free replacement system. By eliminating the need for tools during mould replacement, it is designed to reduce setup times and make it easier to move production between compatible machines when required.

Using one mould across multiple machines can also reduce the number of moulds a manufacturer needs to purchase, manage and store. This can help lower initial investment and ongoing operating costs, while freeing up space in production and warehouse areas.
