Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Germany: Millions invested in the Coca-Cola plant in Halle

Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Germany (CCEP DE) is investing around 45 million euros in its Halle plant this year. The majority of the investment will go toward a new can filling line, which is expected to go into operation in the summer of 2026.

First can filling line at the Halle site

The new canning line complements the two existing lines for non-carbonated beverages in PET bottles at the Halle site. In the future, the popular classics Coke, Fanta and Sprite will be filled in 0.25-liter and 0.33-liter cans, as well as Fuze Tea iced tea drinks and Powerade sports drinks. The multi-million dollar investment is Coca-Cola's response to increased demand: "Cans are in trend," says Uwe Blabusch, operations manager at the Halle plant. "Last year alone, sales of canned soft drinks in the German market increased by about 12 percent over the previous year.''

Further site upgrades planned

In addition to the construction of the new canning line, other upgrades and adjustments will be made to the plant this year. For example, the water treatment and syrup production areas will be extensively modernized. As a positive side effect, water consumption per liter of finished beverage can be further reduced. Coca-Cola has already reduced its specific water consumption in Halle by 18% since 2019.
In addition, one of the existing lines at the site is being expanded to allow for more packaging options, such as packing bottles in trays. This is the company's response to changing customer demands.

Another multi-million investment in beverage bottling in Halle

This is the second multi-million euro investment in beverage bottling at the site in as many years. As recently as 2019/2020, Coca-Cola invested almost 30 million euros in the installation of a state-of-the-art production line. Uwe Blabusch emphasizes: "In the future, we will produce an even greater variety of beverages and packaging in Halle. The plan is to create 25 jobs in production and support. The decision to install another production line in Halle strengthens our location in eastern Germany and also provides important impetus for the regional economy.''

After 23 years: Coke returns to Halle

With the new canning line, the classic Coke celebrates its comeback in Halle. After German reunification, Coca-Cola continued to operate the former VEB Getränkekombinat and began bottling Coca-Cola, Fanta and Sprite there in 1991. In the early 2000s, the plant was completely rebuilt and special lines for bottling still beverages were installed. For the past two decades, Coca-Cola has been producing ice teas and sports drinks in Halle for the entire German market and parts of Europe. Uwe Blabusch, who has been in Halle since the beginning, is looking forward to Coke's comeback next year: "I am proud that after 23 years we will once again be producing our carbonated classics Coca-Cola, Fanta and Co. at our site.''

Coca-Cola to invest around 150 million euros in Germany by 2025

The investment in the Halle site is the largest single sum of Coca-Cola's planned investments this year: a total of around 150 million euros will be invested in the regional sites, the bottle and crate pool and the renewal of the cooler park.
