Madrid, 22nd September 2026 – Buenavista Infrastructure, a subsidiary of Buenavista Equity Partners (“Buenavista”) specialising in investments in infrastructure, energy and environment, has acquired a 30% stake in Extremadura TorrePet, S.L. (“TorrePet”) from VALGROUP, S.A., through its investment vehicles Buenavista Infraestructuras Iberia I, FCR and Buenavista Infraestructuras Coinversión I, SCR.
Veolia, a global leader in the green transition offering services in water, energy and waste management, retains the remaining 70% of the share capital.
Founded in 2005, TorrePet is the first company on the Iberian Peninsula dedicated to PET (polyethylene terephthalate) recycling, producing high-quality food-grade “rPET” pellets for the manufacture of recycled plastic bottles. The company is regarded as a benchmark in PET plastic recycling at the European level. TorrePet operates across all stages of the rPET production value chain and is the only plant in Spain with bottle-to-bottle (b2b) processing capability.
The facilities are located in the municipality of Torremejía (Badajoz), 15 km from the city of Mérida. The plant has the capacity to process annually 50,000 tonnes of used PET into rPET pellets suitable for use in the production of new plastic bottles.
This transaction, the fund’s seventh acquisition, marks the successful conclusion of the investment period for Buenavista Infraestructuras Iberia I and represents the firm’s entry into the waste treatment industry. The sector is a key component of the fund’s investment strategy and is clearly experiencing growth as a result of the European Union’s increasingly demanding requirements for plastic recycling (particularly for food-grade materials).
