We are pleased to present the second edition of our comPETence magazine. Thank you for all of your positive, impromptu feedback and congratulatory messages, also for our app, which was launched a little later but now makes it possible read comPETence on your iPad. Like last time, our new edition contains interesting articles in a range of different sections. Please get in touch if you’d like us to feature your developments, evaluations or opinions. In the IN DIALOGUE section, we celebrate 40 years of Corpoplast. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to talk to Karl-Heinz Seifert, a Corpoplast employee who has been at the company since day one. During my own time at Corpoplast in the 1990s, I really enjoyed working with him. I received a very warm welcome at Corpoplast and, together with Frank Haesendonckx, we have recreated the story of how it all began. Discover it for yourself in our article about the birth of a new technology. IN FOCUS turns its attention to China, its drinks and packaging sector, as well as its fibre and recycling market. We also continue our coverage of preform bases, concluding that we should generally be open to any effort to reduce the amount of materials used in packaging. Last but not least, Dr Thomas Hens, at mineral water firm Gerolsteiner Brunnen, shares his position on refillable PET bottles.
