With the launch of polymer-based Holcopearl® 2287, Holland Colours is applying its PET packaging knowhow to today’s challenges: delivering deeper colors with optimal dispersion on automated lines running at higher and higher speeds.

Holland Colours’ low melting Holcobatch® and Holcoprill product ranges have been colorant staples among food packaging producers for more than 30 years. The company’s unique encapsulating technique supports higher pigment concentrations, lower dosing, lower costs, and better distribution. Result: generations of experts have made Holland Colours their supplier of choice when it comes to coloring PET preforms.

Along the way, the company has accumulated vast amounts of experience and data on PET packaging and production – from the various production processes and equipment, to food safety compliance around the world. Handily so, because when it became clear there was a need for an additional PET colorant solution, Holland Colours had the expertise and processes in place to move fast.

Turning customer feedback into action
“The idea to develop Holcopearl came from customer feedback and the trends we see in the industry and among our customers and their customers,” says Wilfried Grob, Sales & Marketing Manager Europe at Holland Colours. Among these trends are the moves to higher production speeds, deeper colors, more sensitive dosage settings, and the switch to sperical PET granules instead of cylindrical ones. Plants today are also increasingly automated and are focused on high efficiency. “We noticed the developments in the market and decided to develop an additional solution specifically for the PET industry”, continues Grob.

Leveraging three decades of expertise
A further key benefit is that Holcopearl® has been developed with the Holland Colours’ Product Stewardship Program behind it. Holland Colours does not only look at existing product compliances and declarations in line with European and FDA regulations, but also runs these programs on new product developments. This involves taking an active approach to understanding the regulatory challenges the company’s customers face.

By meeting all these criteria, Holcopearl® 2287 becomes the Holland Colours solution for today’s production environments. The Holcopearl® 2287 has a higher melting point and can be used with all dosing equipment. The granules are round – hence the word ‘pearl’ in the name.
