SGT - Société Generale des Techniques

Société Générale des Techniques (SGT) is a French family business specialises in manufacturing PET & RPET preforms.

SGT has been innovating since 1981 to meet the requirements of all bottling companies and provides a wide range of over 260 customisable preforms and 7 types of cap and handle in HDPE via its two production sites in France and three sites in Algeria.

The SGT group as a whole produces 7 billion preforms/year and over 2.3 billion caps. The company also produces 12.000 tons of recycled PET per year and exports across the whole of Europe and Africa.

SGT supplies preforms for use in bottled water, CSD, food, dairy, juices, oil & vinegar, sauces & condiments, home and personal care, wine & spirits, industrial and other applications.

The headquarters of the SGT Group is located at Rezé, in western France. The site, which covers an area of 27,000 m², includes administrative offices, a Research & Development laboratory, a quality control center and a production unit, and is one of the most modern in France equipped with 26 injection presses for producing PET preforms.

SGT Rezé & SGT Algeria are certified FSSC 22000 and meet all requirements with respect to food safety and good industrial hygiene practice. Each of our sites has its own quality control laboratory (raw material control, PET granule calibration, viscosity, acetaldehyde content, colorimetry, etc.) and a production control system (cameras to monitor deviations in length and shape, inspection for material or colour defects, hollows or holes at the injection point, etc.).

In the context of its environmental policy, SGT offers sustainable, ecological packaging solutions such as reductions in bottle weight or the inclusion of recycled PET (RPET) in the production of new preforms. As part of this environmentally responsible approach, SGT has decided to develop its own RPET manufacturing unit in order to guarantee quality. Our SGR recycling line, located at Chalon-sur-Saône, supplies our near-by preform factory.
