Opening of new plant in USA: AlphaPet Inc.

Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited (IVL) is pleased to announce the official opening of its 432,000 tons a year PET resin plant, AlphaPet Inc, at Decatur, Alabama, USA on June 03, 2010. The opening marks the start-up of AlphaPet Line 2. The plant, which is co-located on the site of BP Chemical's PTA facility in Decatur, Alabama, will serve North America with PET resin, used in the manufacture of drinks bottles and other consumer goods packaging. AlphaPet employs state-of-the-art Melt-To-Resin (MTR) technology provided under license by Uhde Inventa Fischer of Germany. The use of MTR technology has a number of advantages over conventional PET technologies including significant capital and operational savings, reduced energy consumption and a smaller environmental footprint.
