Unique Polymer Melt Evacuation Technology MRSA new, patented technology for the evacuation or degassing of polymer melt, the Multi Rotation System MRS will be presented for the first time at the Fakuma.Thanks to its patented multiple screw section, the MRS makes a very large area available and permits unmatched degassing performance, even with a vacuum of only 20 to 40 mbar. The extrusion of undried PET bottle flakes or pellets (for example 12.000 ppm H2O) is therefore possible without making any compromises. This of course also applies to high viscosity end products such as strapping tape.This evacuation technology (and the multiple screw section) is based on the robust and proven single screw extruder concept. In this way, the MRS avoids the problems of alternative multiple shaft or screw designs which are considerably more sensitive to mechanical damage due to their tight clearances. This last point can be decisive in the reprocessing of PET bottle flake which frequently includes coarse contamination.Further positive effects of the MRS technology are the 100% dehumidification of PET as well as the possibility of increasing the intrinsic viscosity of this material.1. Filtration Technologya) New generation of the Filtration System SFXmagnus: enhanced performance with lower investment costs.The latest generation SFXmagnus screen changer offers new features based on its proven “gneussconstant” (fully automatic, pressure- and process-constant operation) performance.   Thanks to a new concept for the heating of this system, the polymer melt can be filtered even more gently. The completely encapsulated system means that there is no prevents chemical reactions with oxygen or airborne moisture. Specially developed retaining plates ensure perfect location and sealing of the filter elements even at filtration fineness of 10 µm.The drive system for most of the model sizes has been completely revised and operates pneumatically instead of hydraulically – a major advantage as no hydraulic power pack is required. This has resulted in a reduction of the investment costs of up to 20 % compared with the previous design.The performance characteristics of the SFXmagnus can be summarised as follows: Permanent polymer purity and product quality. Permanent pressure stability, even during screen changes. Active filtration area up to 1,8 m² Suitable for all types of polymer and the whole range of melt viscosities. Simple and reliable operator interface Completely encapsulated design – external influences can be completely excluded. Fast return on investment – attractive value for money.The SFXmagnus is therefore, the ideal screen changer for applications whereby process constant and/or pressure constant operation is either required or useful, but for which a self – cleaning system is not absolutely necessary.b) New generation RSFgenius: unique, unrivalled processing performances, improved energy balance   This Filtration System has set the standard for self–cleaning process constant melt filtration systems since its introduction over 10 years ago. The efficiency of its self– cleaning system (up to 400 automatic re-uses of the filter elements) and the extremely low melt loss through back flushing remains unrivalled and thanks to detailed changes has even been improved.Gneuss presents the latest RSFgenius version VI.This new generation RSFgenius is characterised by a newly developed insulation of the compact screen changer which has resulted in a reduction of the energy necessary for heating the unit. The new control system enables even more possibilities for programming of the operating processes, which now include the filling and speed of the RSFgenius back flushing piston.The larger units have been redesigned with a new cavity shape which provides – together with optimised melt channel geometry – a 20 % increase in the active filter area.Last but not least, with the RSFgenius 250 and the RSFgenius 330, two new model sizes have been introduced, which enable Gneuss to provide a melt system which can be better tailored to the customer’s individual application than ever before.The RSFgenius provides the ultimate performance available from any screenchanger on the market.
