On May 29, 2008 Husky Injection Molding Systems hosted the second annual Medical and Health Care Day. The event was held at Husky’s Luxembourg European headquarters and was attended by medical molders, OEMs and mold makers. The day was a great success with a turnout of more than 100 participants from 49 different companies.“We were very excited to see such a diverse group of industry professionals gather together for the purpose of developing and exchanging ideas,” said Volker Neuber, Husky’s Vice President, Services and Sales, Europe, Middle East and Africa. “We are happy to offer this opportunity for attendees to learn from each other. At the same time, this event is helping us to better understand our medical customers’ needs and challenges.”Leading companies from across Europe attended the event including: AWM Mold Tech, Braunform, Carclo Technical Plastics, Ermo, GlaxoSmithKline, Mead West Vaco, Norwig, Novo Nordisk, Schott, Schöttli, Sonderborg Vaerktojsfabrik and Terumo Europe.“The Medical and Health Care Day provides a useful forum for discussion, problem solving and new ideas,” said Paul Thomas from Carclo Technical Plastics. “Husky’s approach to the medical and health care market should be applauded. By taking the initiative to fully understand the needs of their customers, Husky has been able to identify specific product gaps while making significant progress in creating market-leading products.”Highlighting the key trends and challenges facing the medical and health care industry in Europe, this year’s event included conferences, demonstrations, tours, case studies, as well as expert speakers from throughout the industry.“I learned a lot about the ins and outs of releasing a product to market, as well as joint ventures and how to make them successful,” said Jürgen Norwig from Norwig. “I was impressed by Husky’s approach to qualification and validation. My visit to Husky’s factory confirmed their careful attention to manufacturing processes, control and precision.”The Medical and Health Care Day proved to be a great opportunity for professionals from throughout the medical industry to meet and exchange ideas. “I have enjoyed a long partnership with Husky and was familiar with their products, services and expertise, but the Medical and Health Care Day gave me better insight into their hot runner manufacturing processes,” said Paul Werder from AWM Mold Tech. “I was very impressed, especially with Husky’s ability to optimize hot runners based on specific application needs.”
