Rotary Filtration Systems enable polymer manufacturers and processors to maintain continuous, stable production / suitable for practically all materials
| A plastics processor, manufacturing multilayer PE films on several lines settled on the Gneuss Filters some time ago. The SFXmagnus, with its process–constant operation enabled this film manufacturer to reduce the thickness of main layer by 4 %. With a throughput rate of 1.000 kg/h., this means an annual material saving of some 300 tonnes – no small change in a highly competitive, cost–conscious environment in which the raw material costs contribute up to 90% of the production costs. |
The plastics manufacturing industry has, according to Dr. Stephan Gneuss also recognized the advantages of continuous and constant quality polymerisation. “With our Rotary Filtration System, the RSFgenius for example, an Asian manufacturer of SAN was able to avoid making more than 8 tonnes of off grade per day and was consequently able to avoid the corresponding reduction in margin”.
The investment costs for the Rotary Filtration Systems are generally higher than for conventional screen changers. Gneuss: “they are however in the medium term the cheaper option!” This is because, among other things, the operating costs caused by the Rotary Filtration Systems are usually significantly lower than those for a conventional screen changer. Further, new manufacturing possibilities are offered which would not be achievable without the Rotary Filtration Systems. Case examples have shown that the return on investment is frequently less than one year.
The right Filtration System for every application
Gneuss Kunststofftechnik offers two core systems fort the filtration of plastic melts. The RSFgenius with an integrated automatic self – purging system with extremely low back flushing material loss and the SFXmagnus range, which is specified when the screen pack life means that a self–cleaning system is not necessary. With the Rotary Large Area Filter, the SFXmagnus-D, Gneuss has launched a new variant which, with its drastically increased area capacity of 1,74 m² is targeted at applications with high throughput rates. All the systems operate “gneussconstant” i.e. automatically, pressure and process stable. They increase the efficiency of the production line and reduce the energy costs. Versions with varying drive systems, heating media and different filter element shapes are available so that a solution can be tailored for the individual application.
