The simulation of the stretch blow moulding process at high stretch ratios close to material failure is not yet state of the art.

At the Institute for Plastics Processing (IKV) at RWTH Aachen University, the necessary material data were collected with the use of a modified Membrane Inflation Rheometer.

This enabled the development of a material model and a failure model for forming simulation that can predict stress whitening and material failure.
